Puya spathaceae is in bloom!
This Puya is part of the Wallace Garden collection and is blooming for the first time since it was moved to the arboretum 6 years ago.
This species of Puya is characterized by its narrow, tubular flowers, which vary in color from dark green to indigo. Puya can take many years to produce flowers, so seeing them is a special treat.
Check out this rare bloom in the South American Loop in the Wallace Garden.
